Terms of Service
The agreement between your church and Taratone for using Tara.OS.
Last updated October 28, 2026
1. About These Terms
These terms are an agreement between Taratone Corporation (“Taratone”, “we”) and the church or organization that subscribes to Tara.OS (“the church”, “you”). By creating an account or using Tara.OS, the person accepting confirms they are at least 18 and have authority to bind the church. Our Privacy Policy forms part of these terms.
The church may invite staff and volunteers (“users”) and is responsible for their use of Tara.OS. Users must be at least 18, or the age of majority where they live; children may not have accounts.
2. Your Account
Keep sign-in details confidential, and tell us at once if you suspect anyone has accessed your account without permission. The church’s administrators control who has access and what each person can see, and are responsible for removing access when someone leaves. Only an administrator can change the subscription or cancel it.
3. Using Tara.OS
You may use Tara.OS to run your church’s operations, ministry and finances. You agree not to: break the law or anyone’s rights; send spam or messages without the consent the law requires; upload malicious code; try to get around security or access another church’s data; copy, resell, scrape or reverse engineer the service; use it to build a competing product or train AI models; or interfere with its operation.
To keep risk low, do not store Social Insurance Numbers, Social Security numbers, government ID numbers, full card numbers or detailed medical records in Tara.OS, except for basic safety notes such as allergies and emergency contacts.
We may change and improve Tara.OS over time. If we remove a feature that is central to your plan, we will give you reasonable notice. Features marked as beta or preview are optional, may change or end, and are provided without warranty.
4. Your Data
Your church owns its data. You give Taratone permission to host, copy, process and display it only as needed to provide, secure and support Tara.OS for you. We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models.
As the church, you are responsible for the accuracy of your data and for having the right to collect and use it, including providing any privacy notices, obtaining any consents (such as a parent or guardian’s consent for children’s records), and meeting your own record-keeping and anti-spam obligations. We act as your service provider for this data, as described in our Privacy Policy, and will help you respond to requests from the people in your records.
You can export your data at any time in common formats. If we learn of a security breach affecting your data, we will notify you without undue delay and give you the information you need to meet your own obligations.
5. Ask Tara
Ask Tara answers questions from your own records and shows its sources, but its answers can be incomplete or wrong. They are not financial, legal, tax or pastoral advice. Check important figures before relying on them, and do not use Ask Tara to make decisions about an individual.
6. Fees and Payment
Plans are billed in advance in Canadian dollars, monthly or as otherwise agreed, at the prices on our pricing page, plus applicable taxes. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled. Each additional campus is billed as shown on the pricing page.
We will give at least 30 days’ notice of any price increase, and it will apply from your next billing period. If a payment fails, we will let you know, and if it remains unpaid 30 days after it is due we may suspend access after giving 7 more days’ notice. We will not suspend for an amount you dispute in good faith while we work it out together. Except where the law or these terms say otherwise, fees already paid are not refundable.
Giving and payment processing, when offered, is priced separately and is also subject to our payment processor’s terms.
7. Availability and Support
We work to keep Tara.OS available and fast, but it may sometimes be unavailable for maintenance, updates or reasons outside our control. We will try to schedule planned maintenance at quiet times. Support is available by email, and a person on our team will reply.
8. Ending Your Subscription
An administrator can cancel at any time; access continues until the end of the period already paid. We may suspend or end an account for a serious breach of these terms, for non-payment as described above, or immediately if needed to prevent harm to the service, other churches or the public. Where possible, we will tell you first and give you a chance to fix the problem.
After your subscription ends, you have 60 days to export your data. We then delete it from our active systems, and backups are overwritten on their normal schedule.
9. Warranties and Liability
We will provide Tara.OS with reasonable skill and care. Apart from that, and to the extent the law allows, Tara.OS is provided “as is” and “as available”, without other warranties or conditions, including fitness for a particular purpose. Tara.OS helps with accounting and reporting, but it does not replace a qualified accountant or the church’s own review of its records.
To the extent the law allows, neither party is liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for lost profits, revenue or donations. Each party’s total liability under these terms is limited to the fees the church paid Taratone in the 12 months before the claim arose. These limits do not apply to a church’s obligation to pay fees, or to liability that cannot be limited by law.
The church will compensate Taratone for claims by third parties arising from the church’s data or its breach of these terms. Taratone will compensate the church for claims that Tara.OS itself infringes someone’s intellectual property.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms as our services change. We will give at least 30 days’ notice of material changes by email or in Tara.OS, unless a change is needed sooner for legal or security reasons. If you don’t agree with a change, you may cancel before it takes effect and we will refund any prepaid fees for the remaining period.
11. General
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, and any dispute will be heard by the courts of Ontario. Neither party is responsible for delays caused by events beyond its reasonable control. The church may not transfer these terms without our consent; we may transfer them to a successor that takes over Tara.OS. These terms, with the Privacy Policy and any order form, are the whole agreement about Tara.OS.
